I am so sorry I haven’t posted in over a week now. My Internet has been down since Thursday and is just now back up and running. There is a little less than a month before school starts again and I want to share how I have been drinking my water for the whole summer. Not only is this great for summer but it also works for any other time of the year, just substitute fruit that is in season. When it is hot, or even when it’s not, I always make sure that I stay hydrated by drinking at least eight glasses of water a day; with these water recipes it is way easier than it sounds. Not only is water a great source of hydration, it also helps keep your skin beautiful and clear. I love making flavor-infused water and storing it in mason jars. Perfect for when I am on the go. This is just a sampling of what flavors you can put in your water. Just make sure to store in the fridge. It tastes way better chilled..trust me.
- Fresh strawberry cut in half
- Fresh kiwi slices
- Fresh Pineapple cut in to squares
- A few oranges sliced thin.
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 medium cucumber, sliced thin
- 1 medium lemon, sliced thin
- 12 leaves spearmint
* Make sure to strain before enjoying!
Blueberry and Pomegranate
- 1 small box of plump blueberries
- 1 to 2 cups of fresh pomegranate seeds
- Wood skewers for decoration ( optional)
* Gently pierce blueberries so the juices can flow
Directions for all flavors
Add all ingredients to a pitcher of cool water and allow to chill for at least 2 hours. Add Ice and enjoy! For an added touch place blueberries or fruit of choice on Skewers and add to each glass. I recommend serving the water in mason jars instead of a normal glasses for it looks prettier and taste better 🙂
Makes 2 liters, re-fill water 3-4 times before replacing apples and cinnamon.
1 Apple thinly sliced, I like Fuji, but pick your favorite
1 Cinnamon Stick
Drop apple slices in the bottom of the pitcher (save a few to drop in your glass later) and then the cinnamon stick, cover with ice about 1/2 way through then with water. Place in the fridge for 1 hour before serving.
LASTS FOR 24 HOURS IN THE FRIDGE
For added FUN!!!
Spa Water Ice Cubes
I love these because they can also be a popsicle on a hot day! Fill the ice mold half way with blueberry ( or fruit of choice) puree first, place it in the freezer until it is frozen and then fill the other half with spa water of your choice.
- Blueberry puree mixed with water to achieve the right consistency with fresh blueberries
- Strawberry puree mixed with water for the right consistency and sprinkled with Rosemary.
All of these flavors are AMAZING! And are perfect to enjoy WHENEVER! Remember the more water you drink the better! Dont know how much water you need to drink? A good rule of thumb is to divide your body weight in half and then drink that amount in fluid ounces.
